House Watch Program
What is It?
The Powell Police Department’s House Watch Program is a free service designed to provide peace of mind while you're away. Whether you're leaving for a weekend or an extended vacation, our officers will make periodic checks of your residence to ensure everything appears secure.
How It Works
-
Submit a Vacation House Check Form before you leave.
-
Officers will visually inspect your property during routine patrols.
-
If anything appears suspicious or concerning, we'll contact you or your designated emergency contact.
Before You Go
The form will ask for:
-
Your departure and return dates
-
Property details (address, color, visibility, alarm system)
-
Contact information for anyone watching the home
-
Animals, lights, drapes, and vehicle information
-
A phone number where you can be reached while away
You’ll also be asked to authorize officers to visually inspect your property and — if needed — enter the home to secure it.
Important Notes
-
You must notify us at (307) 754-2212 when you return so the checks can be discontinued.
-
This is a courtesy service, not a replacement for alarm systems or private security.
-
House checks are conducted as time and weather permit — no guarantee is made for continuous or daily inspections.
-
Participation requires signing a waiver releasing the City of Powell and its officers from liability for loss, theft, or damage.
